A drainage conversation may include grade, swales, inlets, catch basins, hardscape, roof runoff, and the available discharge path. The right mix depends on where water enters and where it can go.
Observe before you request a quote
Record the affected area, rainfall conditions, how long water remains, nearby downspouts, hardscape edges, visible low points, and existing inlet or outlet locations.
Possible components of a yard-drainage plan
A qualified contractor may discuss surface grading, swales, catch basins, area drains, or buried conveyance. These are tools, not automatic prescriptions.
Why discharge matters
Collection alone does not resolve a drainage problem. Any proposed system should identify a realistic route and destination for the water.
What affects a quote
Access, excavation depth, existing landscaping or hardscape, the distance to a discharge location, utilities, and site conditions all affect a scope.
